Lakeside Renaissance

AOME transformed this once stark and sprawling home, that commands a highly-prized waterfront position on Lake Washington, for a previous client of ours. Reminiscent of grand European villas in its approach and stunning outlook, the home also now exudes warmth from the earth tones of the stone-and-stucco frontage and the introduction of carefully chosen materials and textures layered up to soften the previously smooth and contemporary interior.

We borrowed a technique from Renaissance architecture – of diminishing the scale as the viewer looks up – adding coffers to high ceilings and stone to previously stark walls to make the expansive rooms less sparse.  The impressive living room features a two-tier fireplace and soft golden ceiling to balance the room’s height.

Light reflecting from the lake floods the house with brilliance, and the house is now a stunning blend of old and new – furnished with the owners’ extensive European antique collection and shown off by the welcoming interiors in a truly cohesive design.

Comfortable and Flowing

It’s warm and inviting and very unified the way the architect, designer and builder worked together.
